Manchester City can extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to eight points over second-placed Man United should they take all three points here against Spurs. The away side have won just one of their last five in all competitions and probably won’t be in the best condition after losing to Everton in the FA Cup in extra time on Wednesday night.

On first glance there doesn’t seem to be too much of value here but we are likely to see a First Half Goal. Man City have scored in a first half goal in over 90% of their home PL matches, while Spurs have a respectable record of scoring in the FH of 60% of their away league matches.

There’s a good potential to Lay Over 2.5 goals, or Back Under 2.5 Goals here as well. Overs has only been seen in 27% of home Man City matches and in 40% of away Spurs matches and in previous head to head matches at the Etihad, only two out of the last seven meetings have produced Over 2.5 goals.

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho hates risking anything against the bigger teams, look at the mess he made of the Liverpool game for example. Liverpool were in bad form and instead of going for it they just allowed Liverpool to come at them. He’s done this throughout his career, allowing attacking teams to come at his five- or six-man defensive line and trying to break on the counter. No doubt Harry Kane and Son Heung Min have the abilities to crush most teams on the counter but it’s an incredibly risky tactic against this Man City team who are so high on confidence right now.

City don’t need the win here but this is all going to come down to how these players will want to show the rest of the league that they can take on, and beat, teams who set up camp on white line of their ‘keeper’s box. A win here will see them take another step towards regaining the Premier League title and the odds reflect how the market (odds of just 1.33 for the Man City to win) sees this one going.
