We’ve taken a look at one of the biggest games in English football, Arsenal vs Manchester United in our Saturday value preview and we’re also looking at the relegation zone in the Championship where we’ve found a couple of stats that really stand out and offer some potential inplay value.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Preston North End, 15.00 GMT

While the blue stats aren’t exactly jumping out at us from this one there’s some value to be found when we dig further into the stats. Wednesday have had a torrid season but they’ve been improving of late and should their form continue they should be able to claw their way out of the relegation zone. However, they’re currently six points from safety after 24 matches while most teams have played 25/26 and they’ve lost their most recent Champions match.

Preston have been struggling for goals lately, scoring just three goals over their five most recent Championship matches. Away from home things are a little better, they’ve won two of their last five, scoring three.

The Owls have held the upper hand in recent fixtures played at Hillsborough, winning four of the last five. Four of those matches both saw Over 2.5 goals and Both Teams to Score landing but as we can see from the image above there’s no value to be found with either.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Preston North End, 15.00 GMT

50% of Wednesday’s home matches have seen a second half goal while a second half goal has been seen in 100% of Preston’s away Championship matches. Interestingly, Preston have only kept a clean sheet in 30% of their away matches and, on average, they concede 1.54 goals per away league match

Both teams don’t score many first half goals, Wednesday have scored a FH goal in just 33% of their home matches, while for Preston it’s even less at 30%. However, Preston have scored a second half goal in almost 70% of their away matches.

With so many good stats for second half goals that’s where the value lies. If this match is still 0-0 at halftime we’d either lay the draw or back Over 0.5 goals depending on the better odds.

Arsenal vs Manchester United: 17.30 GMT

Plenty of Blue value stats here and hopefully we’ll see a cracker of a match. Arsenal haven’t had a great season but they’re stringing some decent results together finally and have now gone six matches unbeaten in the league, winning five and drawing one.

Man United were surprise losers to Sheffield United at Old Trafford midweek and should the Blades pull off a similar result against Manchester City earlier in the day, Man United could top the table here. However, the Emirates Stadium hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for United of late, Arsenal have won four out of the last five league meetings between the sides there with United winning just one.

Arsenal vs Manchester United: 17.30 GMT

Only two of those five matches saw Over 2.5 goals but the stats are showing some value here. Two out of three of Arsenal’s most recent home PL matches have seen Over 2.5 goals and has been seen in three out of five previous away United matches. Both teams have been scoring 1.2 and 2.4 goals respectively over their home vs away matches. The odds for Over 2.5 goals opened at 1.83 a few days ago and have fallen to 1.80 at the time of writing, so we’re still getting a value price at those odds but as it gets closer to kickoff time the odds are likely to continue to drop. And, as we know, for long-term profitability we need to beat the closing odds.

There’s plenty to play for here, Arsenal can leap from ninth to sixth with a win, and a few other results go their way, while United can take top spot from City. We should see a cracker here.
