It’s going to be a very nervy night for both clubs here, RB Salzburg will qualify if they beat Liverpool while Liverpool need a draw to be sure of qualification. If they win they’ll top the group. Salzburg are on a great run of form and have only lost once at home this season, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 17 matches, will we see a stalemate here, maybe the home side can topple the current champions? More importantly, let’s look for value in the betting markets.

RB Salzburg vs Liverpool Betting Tips and Predictions: Salzburg

Much of the talk around this match concerns Erling Haaland and rightfully so, the youngster has 16 goals in 14 league appearances, four goals in two cup matches and eight goals in five Champions League matches this season, that’s 28 goals in 21 matches. No wonder he’s been linked with pretty much all of the major European clubs this season. He’s around 2.10 to Score Anytime here.

Salzburg are very good at home and yes, while the gulf in class between the Austrian Bundesliga and Serie A and the Premier League is obvious we cannot deny how good Die Mozartstädter (what a nickname) are at home. Of their 11 home matches this season, they’ve won 9, drawn one and lost one. In the league they’ve not lost at home since November 2016, a run of 53 home matches without defeat, that’s incredible.

At home in the league they’re averaging 4.56 goals per match and conceding 1.22. At home in the CL they’ve scored 8 goals in two matches and conceded five. Over all of their CL matches so far, they’ve scored 16 and conceded 11.

RB Salzburg vs Liverpool Betting Tips and Predictions: Liverpool

Liverpool are winning of late, but they’re not exactly setting the world aflame with their performances. Last weekend against Bournemouth the home side barely turned up and Liverpool strolled to a 0-3 win. This will be a big test for Liverpool, they’ve shown over the last few seasons under Jurgen Klopp that they can handle the pressure when it’s asked of them, but away from home against a free-scoring Salzburg side desperate for the win they could come unstuck.

As said above, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 17 matches, the 18th match was a 2-0 loss to Napoli in the opening round of CL matches. Away from Anfield, Liverpool have lost just twice in their last 25 matches, that 2-0 loss to Napoli and a 3-0 loss to Barcelona. They’ll be confident of getting the win here but the bookies are not so sure, they’re currently priced at 1.88. Liverpool have only been priced above that away from home on two occasions this season, away to Manchester United (priced at 1.97) where the match ended in a draw and that opening CL match against Napoli (priced at 2.34) where they lost.

The Reds are averaging 2.0 goals and 0.63 goals conceding on their travels in the Premier League, in the CL, they’ve scored four and conceded three away from home. Over their five CL matches so far, they’ve scored 11 and conceded 8.

In team news, Dejan Lovern hobbled off against Bournemouth, Joe Gomez will partner Virgil van Dijk at the back. Gini Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana could return for Liverpool.
