Wolfsburg vs Hoffenheim Betting Tips and Predictions: Wolfsburg

The home side are priced slightly under Evens at 1.95 to take the three points here and with Hoffenheim only having beaten them once at the Volkswagen Arena in their 11 matches you’d have to question why are the odds so generous. The reason is injuries.

Wolfsburg haven’t been at their greatest for the last few seasons. In both 2016/17 and 2017/18 they had to win the relegation playoff to remain in Germany’s top flight, last season though things did pick up when they managed to finish in sixth meaning they’re back in European football this season. Incidentally they beat Ukraine’s PFC Oleksandria 3-1 at home on Thursday.

Wolfsburg are on a great run of form currently, they’ve not lost a competitive match since last March and are on a run of seven matches unbeaten. American midfielder John Anthony Brooks will be missed in the centre of the park as will first choice goalkeeper Koen Casteels. Austrain midfielder Xaver Schlager is out as well. However, it’s not all bad news, Dutch striker Wout Weghost is in the form of his life, scoring three goals in four matches this season and the Wolves will be depending on him for the remainder of the season to keep banging them in.

Wolfsburg vs Hoffenheim Betting Tips and Predictions: Hoffenheim

Die Kraichgauer (German nicknames are the best) haven’t gotten off to the greatest of starts, bagging just four points from their four matches so far. The problem is that their opponents so far have been traditionally midtable, or lower, and on paper they really should be higher up the table. Their did beat Werder Bremen in their first home match of the season and put in a spirited display away to Bayer Leverkusen that earned them a point, but against Eintracht Frankfurt and Freiburg you’d have expected them to do better than scoreless defeats.

This is their largest problem this season, from their four games they’ve only scored three goals and they all came in the game against Werder. So three scoreless matches and looking at their squad it’s hard to see where the goals are going to come from, this could be a long season for Hoffenheim. Croatian striker Andrej Kramaric has scored 45 goals for them over the previous seasons but he’s out for the foreseeable future and so far from their strikeforce this season, only Togo attacker Ihlas Bebou has scored. And he can’t be relied on, in his last two seasons for Hannover he only scored 9 goals in 42 matches.
