Previews

Leeds United welcome Liverpool to Elland Road on Sunday afternoon for their Premier League matchday four clash. Leeds are still winless this season having drawn two and lost one of their opening three games while Liverpool have won two and drawn one so far. Let’s have a deep dive into the stats and form of both sides here and see if we can turn up some value in the football betting markets.

Leeds vs Liverpool Betting Tips and Predictions

Leeds season got off to the worst possible start with a 5-1 throuncing at Old Trafford from Manchester United. Since then they’ve drawn both of their Premier League games, 2-2 at home to Everton and salvaged a draw away to Burnley when they’d been 1-0 until the 86th minute. In the League Cup they were comfortable 3-0 winners at home to Crewe. The results don’t look the best, but beside the Manchester United defeat they’ve been playing some great football it’s just that they’ve been less than clinical with their goalscoring opportunities. It’s an area they must improve in and no doubt manager Marcelo Bielsa will be doing what he can to improve their goal conversion rates.

As any Liverpool fan will tell you they always seem to end up with injured players after international breaks and with so many of their players playing for countries from across the globe they can return to England a little worse for wear. However, things seem to have gone pretty good for the Red over this break, only Takumi Minamino has returned with a knock and it would hardly have been in the Starting XI anyway.

Leeds vs Liverpool Betting Tips and Predictions

Obviously with Leeds only being promoted back to the Premier League last season these teams haven’t met often over the last few years. Last season Liverpool surrendered a 0-1 lead away to Leeds only to concede in the dying stages of the game while the Anfield match saw Liverpool winning 4-3.

Leeds won eight of their 19 home PL games last season, drawing five and losing six, scoring 1.47 goals per game and conceding 1.11. Liverpool won 10 of their 19 away games last season, drawing six and losing three. They averaged 2.05 goals per game on their league excursions and conceded 1.16.

Leeds vs Liverpool Betting Tips and Predictions With those stats you’d expect Both Teams to Score here, however, at the time of writing the odds are as low as 1.50 and that’s a terrible price. From last season’s stats we can see that Leeds scored 17 second half goals at home and conceded eight. Liverpool scored 26 and conceded 12. This match has BTTS written all over it but with those stats we can extract some better value here and go with the far higher odds on BTTS in the Second Half.
