Ukraine vs England Betting Tips and Predictions

England take on Ukraine in Rome on Friday night for their Euro 2020 quarter final. The English are massive favourites for this matchup and their price has been falling since it opened. Tough to see Ukraine really getting much here, they were pretty good against Sweden in the Last 16 but their other performances over the tournament have left much to be desired. With England being such heavy favourites, can we find any value in the betting markets?

Ukraine vs England Betting Tips and Predictions

Ukraine left it until very late to see off Sweden in their Last 16 match against the Swedes in Glasgow on Tuesday. Both teams played a good match with both sides peppering their opponents’ goals with shots and hitting the posts on a few occasions. The match looked destined for a penalty shootout but Artem Dovbyk, a late substitute for Andrii Yarmolenko, popped up with a fantastic header to see Ukraine qualifying for their quarter final clash with England.

England were well-deserved winners against Germany in what was yet another dull English performance. Gareth Southgate’s side only had five shots for the entire 90 minutes of football and really, as in all of England’s games so far, except against Scotland, they weren’t really tested. Germany have had a terrible tournament and with Jogi Low now retiring new manager Hansi Flick has a job on his hands to turn this ragged German side into a winning team again.

Ukraine vs England Betting Tips and Predictions

Ukraine have won two of their last five matches, drawing one (winning it in Extra Time) and losing two. They’ve scored 10 goals over those five matches, conceding six. Over 2.5 goals was seen in three (over 90 minutes) while Both Teams to Score landed in three.

England have won four of their last five games, drawing the other one. They’ve scored only five goals over those five games, conceding none. Over 2.5 goals was witnessed in none of those matches and Both Teams to Score also landed in zero. The sides haven’t met since 2013 so there’s not really much point in looking into the historical record between the sides as much of the squads have changed quite a bit since then.

Ukraine vs England Betting Tips and Predictions

There’s little value here in backing England and you won’t find many people outside of Ukraine who don’t think England will emerge victorious by the end. However, England’s scoring record is pretty bad, scoring just five goals over their last five games and Ukraine’s scoring record is far better which means they cannot be easily dismissed. Hard to not see both teams scoring here but England have the momentum and the superior players to march on towards a semifinal. We’re backing England to Win & BTTS.
