France vs Germany Betting Tips and Predictions

Previews

France and Germany open their Group F accounts for this summer’s Euros on Tuesday night and what a game it could be. Group F has quite obviously been labelled as the ‘group of death’ but the way this edition of the Euros is working we should see three teams qualifying for the next round. The vast majority of people are giving Hungary a snowball’s proverbial here but one good result could potentially see them getting through at the expense of one of France, Germany or Portugal.

Although France were drawn as the home side here we should mention that this match will be taking place at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena so really it’s the Germans who will have home advantage here. We’re really looking forward to this one, let’s find some value in the betting markets.

France vs Germany Betting Tips and Predictions

France come into this match as slight favourites. Let’s just illustrate what’s on offer here. By going with the current Pinnacle odds, Pinny are seen as the bookies that offer the ‘fairest’ of odds, France to Win is priced at 2.76, the Draw at 3.22 and Germany to Win at 2.86. So in implied probability that’s 36.2% vs 31.1% vs 35%. Hold on you’re saying that adds up to 102.3%. Yes it does, the 2.3% is how much of a margin the bookies will make on this match. You can read more about How Bookie Calculate their Overround here (https://www.betdynamo.com/blog/2019/10/14/how-to-calculate-a-bookies-overround/). Let’s park that away for today though and we can see that really the differences in the percentages chances here are very small between the sides. What does this mean for us punters? Well, it means the market doesn’t have a clue which team is going to win here.

France vs Germany Betting Tips and Predictions; Goals

France’s preparation for the Championships has gone quite swimmingly, they’ve lost just one of their last 20 fixtures. Over their five most previous matches they’ve won four and drawn one, scoring 10 and conceding just one. Germany’s run of form isn’t quite as good, they’ve lost three over their last 20 and over their five most recent games have won three, drawn one and lost one, scoring an impressive 13 goals, seven against Latvia alone, and conceding three.

Of course, this is one of the oldest sporting rivalries in the world, the nations have met 31 times, dating back to 1931 with France winning 14, Germany winning eight and eight ending level. The big question is should we treat this game as being played at a ‘neutral venue’ as we would see in a normal Euros or World Cup?

With this game being played in Germany we should further look into the games played on German soil. All in all there have been 13 meetings between France and Germany on German turf, France have won four, four have ended level and Germany have won five. There were 46 goals over those 13 games, that’s an average of 3.54. With both teams in good goal-scoring form over their five most recent respective games you’d expect both to get on the scoresheet here and while the odds on Both Teams to Score aren’t huge they’re pretty good all the same. Will we see more than 2.5 goals?

The current price of 2.11 on the Betfair exchange suggests just a 47.4% chance of it occurring. Overs has landed in just two of France’s last three matches and occurred in three of Germany’s last five. If we look at home German matches we see that Overs has landed in four of their last five at home. 2.11 may very well represent some decent value.

France vs Germany Betting Tips and Predictions: Players to Watch

We can see from the current favourites to Score Anytime that the market is siding with the French players. Even their substitute player Olivier Giroud is ahead of German’s striker Timo Werner in the betting. PSG’s Kylian Mbappe looks like a good shout here, he scored 27 league goals for PSG over 31 appearances as well as eight in 10 in the Champions League.
