Morecambe and Newport County head to Wembley on Monday for their League Two Promotion Playoff. Morecambe were 3-2 winners over Tranmere over their semifinal games while Newport were 5-4 winners in their matches against Forest Green. Both teams finished the season in pretty good form and will be raring to go here for the opportunity to play in League One next season. Let’s see if there’s any value in the betting markets.

There’s some nice looking Blue value stats jumping out at us straight away from the Bet Dynamo Insights Page. While betting on Over 0.5 and Over 1.5 goals isn’t a strategy we would suggest we can see that there’s a high chance of both First Half and Second Half goals here. Let’s dig further into the stats. Morecambe have won three of their last five matches, drawing one and losing one. Newport have won three, drawn one and lost one over their last five.

We can see here that both teams had a pretty good goal-scoring record over their home vs away games with Morecambe averaging 1.62 goals per home league games while Newport averaged 1.38 over their away games. This being a match held at a neutral venue though we need to factor in both home and away games; doing that we can see that Morecambe averaged 1.50 and conceded 1.20 while Newport averaged 1.24 and conceded just 0.91. Over 2.5 goals, as indicated in the Bet Dynamo Insights above, was offering no value in the home vs away stats and with those stats we might not see a goalfest here. However, this being pretty much a cup final with promotion up for grabs we may well see a few going in as time ticks down. Still though, we could well see a cagey start here and backing Under 2.5 goals and cashing out some time in the first half is a possible option.

We can see here that there’s been a second half goal in 83.33% of Morecambe’s home games this season and in 75% of Newport’s away matches. Hard to imagine this one finishing 0-0. Morcambe have only been kept scoreless in three of their last 19 matches in all competitions while Newport have only not scored in five of their last 19 games. If it’s 0-0 at halftime then expect at least a goal to come.
