Previews

Real Madrid take on Barcelona in La Liga on Saturday night and they don’t come much bigger. Should Barcelona take all three points or even just manage a draw, they’ll grab top spot in La Liga from Atletico Madrid who have been dropping points of late. If Real win they’ll leap above Barcelona into second but they won’t pass their city rivals Atletico as they’ll still be behind on goal difference, unless they win by at least four goals. This is going to be a huge match and both teams are in great form of late. Let’s go through the stats and see if we can find some value.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Betting Tips and Predictions

Real-vs-Barcelona1

Over their shared history there have been 247 El Classicos. Interestingly both sides have won 97 matches each and 52 have ended all square. Looking at just league matches played in Madrid though then Los Blancos most certainly hold the upper hand over their bitter Catalan rivals. Over their 90 league meetings in Madrid, Real have won 53, Barcelona have been victorious in just 22 and 15 have ended level.

Thanks to the Bet Dynamo Insights Page we can see some nice Blue Stats, however, the odds are quite low so we need to dig a bit deeper into the stats and form of both sides to find something worth betting on.

When two high-scoring teams come up against each other one of the most popular bets is the Both Teams to Score. At the moment the best odds you’ll find are around 1.55 which are still pretty low but we can exploit it for better value. We can see as well from the image above that both teams rarely go a home/away game without scoring so we should see both getting on the scoresheet here.

The Second Half (SH) Game Goal stat really caught our eye here. Both teams have scored a second-half goal in almost 86% of their home/away La Liga matches. Instead of going with Both Teams to Score odds of 1.55 or lower, we can instead look at some of the bookies who offer another market; Both Teams to Score in the Second Half. After scouting around the internet the highest odds we could see for this were with Unibet at 2.70 at the time of writing.

It would take a brave person to back Under 2.5 goals in any El Classico but we’re seeing here that Overs has only landed in around 36% of home Real Madrid matches and in 50% of away Barcelona matches. We can see also that Over 2.5 goals has only occurred in two of the last five meetings between the pair overall and looking at La Liga matches only, Over 2.5 goals has also occurred in two out of five.

If we look at just matches played where Real Madrid were the home side then we can see that only one of the last five matches between the sides have seen Overs occurring. However, looking at home La Liga matches, it has landed in three of five. All of these stats though do tell us that we’re unlikely to see Overs occurring as it’s become a pretty rare event when these sides meet. Are you brave enough to back Unders in El Classico?
