Man City vs Man United Betting Tips and Predictions

Previews

With Manchester City being 14 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City in the Premier League and 11 games to go (including this one) it doesn’t look likely that Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens will be stopped. It’s even harder to see a Manchester United side who haven’t scored now in all three of their most recent fixtures putting even a dent in their unstoppable march towards their fifth Premier League title in 10 seasons. More important though for this match, can we find some value in the markets?

Man City vs Man United: Betting Tips and Predictions

Manchester City’s players must be licking their lips at the thought of inflicting a season-ending wound on their bitter, city rivals United. It’s pretty much out of the question that United will catch them at this stage of the season but knowing that an emphatic win will well and truly end any chances of them putting up a late fight will be all the motivation they need. Add to this the fact that United have now gone three matches without a single goal and it’s easy to see what City are priced as low as 1.50 to win what will be the 76th top flight meeting between the sides.

City are undefeated over their last 28 matches in all competitions, winning 25 of them, indeed they’ve won all of their last 21 matches. At home in the Premier League they’re enjoying a run of 13 matches without defeat, winning 11 and drawing two, keeping nine clean sheets over those 13 matches.

Man City vs Man United: Betting Tips and Predictions City have come out of the traps strongly at home this season, they’ve been leading at halftime in 64% of their home PL matches and have scored in 93% of their home league games. If the score is still 0-0 after 30 minutes and there’s been some goalmouth it might be worth either Laying the HT Draw or backing Over 0.5 goals if the odds are representing some value that is.

These Manchester derbies can be pretty dour though, only five goals have been scored over the last four meetings between the pair in all competitions. Neither Over 2.5 goals nor Both Teams to Score landed in any of those. Premier League games at the Etihad have seen a bit more action, three of the last five there in all competitions have seen Overs and they also saw BTTS landing (current odds 2.10).

We can see in the image below though that City are conceding just 0.64 goals per game and, as mentioned above, United have failed to score in their last three matches in a row. Surely they’ll get one here you’re probably thinking. Well, City have kept nine clean sheets over their last 13 home matches, they could well pull off another clean sheet here. However, United have scored there in five out of their last six visits. It’s a risky bet but if we just went on the odds alone there’s value in laying it.

As you can see from the same image both teams are scoring plenty in the second half of matches. Should the match be 0-0 or 1-1 around the 60-70 minute mark you’d have to be tempted to go with Over 0.5/1.5 goals or Laying the Draw as City have scored in all of their home games this season and United scored in 71% of theirs.
