Previews

For Sunday’s value previews we’re going to take a look at the contrasting form of West Ham who are taking on Liverpool in the Premier League and we’ll be swinging by La Liga where Barcelona are edging their way back up the table and take on an Athletic Bilbao who have won four out of their last five matches in all competitions and beat Barcelona in extra time just a fortnight ago in the cup.

West Ham vs Liverpool, 16.30 GMT

West Ham are in a great run of form of late, they’re unbeaten over their last eight matches in all competitions, winning all of their last six. Liverpool are starting to look better but they’ve still just won two of their last five in the Premier League.

At home in the league, the Hammers have won just two of their last five, drawing two and losing one while Liverpool, away from home, have won just two of their last five, drawing two and losing one We should see a few goals here, West Ham have scored in all but 10% of their matches while Liverpool have only failed to score in 22% of their away matches

West Ham vs Liverpool, 16.30 GMT

The visiting team have held the upper hand over the last few seasons, winning three of their last five Premier League visits to West Ham, with the Hammers winning just one. Interestingly, Over 2.5 goals was only seen in two of those five matches, Both Teams to Score was also only seen in two.

50% of West Ham’s home league games have seen Over 2.5 goals while only 40% of Liverpool’s away games have also seen Overs landing. While Liverpool may have found their scoring boots of late the value here is in opposing goals. We’d be happy enough to Lay Overs (back Unders) and cash out for a percentage profit towards the end of the first half should it still be 0-0 as time counts down.

Barcelona vs Athletic Bilbao, 20.00 GMT

While much of the focus in La Liga has been on the battle between Atletico and Real Madrid at the top of the table Barcelona have been quietly putting a run together that has seen them taking 23 from a possible 27 points. Were it not for the shenanigans of earlier in the season they could well be challenging Atletico for the title. They are 10 points adrift at the moment and while it’s unlikely they’ll catch the Madrid side they have the form and momentum now to push both of the Madrid sides above them in the table.

Bilbao have won three of their last five in all competitions, drawing one (winning it in Extra Time) and losing one. Their away league form isn’t so rosey though, they’ve won none of their last seven away La Liga matches and over their last 10 league visits to the Nou Camp they’ve lost nine and drawn one.

Barcelona vs Athletic Bilbao, 20.00 GMT

Where is the value you’re asking. Well, there has been a goal in the first half of 78% of Barcelona’s home La Liga matches and in 67% of away Athletic matches and Barca have scored in the FH in 78% as well, and have scored 1.33 goals on average, in the FH of their home La Liga matches. The current odds on Over 0.5 FH goals are pretty slim but watch the game and if they’re creating chances you should be able to get a decent enough price after 20 minutes of play.
