You’ve got to love this time of year, the matches are coming thick and fast in England while the rest of Europe is still recovering from over indulging on Christmas food. There’s a full programme of matches being played on New Year’s Day as usual but we’ve taken a look at two matches in particular to find a nice Double to begin the New Year with.

Newcastle vs Leicester Betting Tips: Over 1.5 Goals - 1.30

Newcastle made a dog’s dinner of their last home match against Everton, they came into the match as outsiders but started well. That was until Everton went ahead after 13 minutes and they were chasing the game after that.

Newcastle’s record at home is still quite good though, winning four, drawing four and losing just two of their 10 home PL matches, averaging 1.10 goals per match and conceding 0.90 goals. They’ve won three of their last five at home, drawing one and losing one. Both Teams to Score has landed in 6/10 previous home matches for the Magpies with Over 1.5 goals occurring in 60% and Over 2.5 in 40%.

Leicester are on a good run of late, they’ve won five of their last six on the road. Overall this season, they’ve won six, drawn one and lost just three. They’ve averaging 2.40 goals per game and conceding just 1.0. Like with Newcastle, Both Teams to Score has landed in 6/10 previous away matches and Over 1.5 goals has occurred in 90% of matches and Over 2.5 goals has occurred in 60%.

As you can see from the Bet Dynamo Insights Page, we’re getting good value with Over 1.5 goals and with both teams in such good goal scoring form it’s the first part of our Double here.

Southampton vs Spurs: Over 2.5 Goals - 1.67

Southampton are finally starting to put a string of good results together, they’ve now taken seven points from a possible nine in their last three matches, beating both Aston Villa and Chelsea away from home and drawing with Crystal Palace last Saturday.

The Saints have won only two home PL matches this season, drawing two and losing six. They’ve averaging 1.0 goals per match and conceding an eye-watering 2.50 goals per game. Over 2.5 goals has occurred in 70% of their home matches so far this season in the league.

Spurs have had a few hiccups since Jose Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino a month ago. Since then Spurs have won five of their eight matches, drawing one and losing two. This season on their travels they’ve won just two of their 10 matches, drawing four and losing four. They’ve averaged 1.50 goals per game on the road and conceded 1.90. Over 2.5 goals has occurred in 90% of their away matches this season.

Both teams are scoring plenty of goals of late and Southamton seem to be on an upward curve. We all know how lethal Spurs can be on their day and the side is full of goals. Over 2.5 goals is priced around 1.67 and while not the best odds by any stretch but we’re getting good value here, so we’re backing Over 2.5 goals at 1.67.

Put both of these together into a Double and you should get odds of around 2.20.
