Ninth placed Manchester United welcome fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford on Wednesday night for their Premier League matchday 15 clash. United’s form has taken yet another wobble over the last few matches, drawing two and losing one of their last three matches, while Spurs have won 3/3 of their matches under new manager Jose Mourinho. On his return to Old Trafford, can Mourinho heap more pain on his former employers or can United’s players unite to show him they’re better than he thought they were? More importantly though, is there any value in the betting markets?

Man United vs Spurs Betting Tips and Predictions: Man United

Having such a yo-yo season, it’s hard to pin down which Manchester United will show up here. No doubt they’ll be motivated to show their old boss that they are better players that he thought they were. The only problem with that is, well, they’ve shown us time and time again that they aren’t. Over the weekend Ed Woodward said United needed a few transfer windows to sort this team out and if you were a player that wouldn’t exactly instill confidence knowing you’re going to be replaced over the coming months.

Anyway, let’s talk actual football; over their last five home league matches at Old Trafford, United are unbeaten, winning two and drawing three. Over this season at home, they’re averaging 1.86 goals and conceding 1.0. Over their last five at home in the PL though, they’ve scored eight and conceded five.

In team news, United have a few injuries, but all of them are long-term absentees and have no new injuries since their last match, a 2-2 draw at home with Aston Villa.

Man United vs Spurs Betting Tips and Predictions: Spurs

Spurs have certainly improved under Jose Mourinho. It’s going to take a while before they’re fully punching at their weight again, but the signs look good so far. They’ve won the first three matches under their new manager, coming from 0-2 down in one of them to win 4-2. However, in all of those matches they’ve been poor at the back, in the first match under Mourinho they conceded two in the last twenty minutes and were it not for VAR, it would have been three. Against Olympiakos they were 0-2 down within twenty minutes but came back strongly in the second half and ended up winning 4-2.

The Bournemouth match was just like the West Ham one, 3-0 up and going into the final 20 minutes they allowed Bournemouth back into the match and it ended 3-2. Mou needs to fix that defence, can he do it without a war chest?

Spurs’ recent away record in the PL is pretty dire, they’ve won one, drawn one and lost three. Over the season they’ve averaging 1.43 goals per match and conceding 2.0 on their travels.

Spurs, like United, have a few injuries, but nothing new since that win over Bournemouth at the weekend.

Oddswise the value here is with the home side, the Asian Handicap 0 should be priced closer to 1.85, so 2.0 is decent value. Of their 88 meetings at Old Trafford United have won 61 of them and lost just 14. However, which Man United will show up? As we can see from the Bet Dynamo Insights Page there’s good value in the Over/Under 2.5 goals market. So our pick then is Over 2.5 goals at 1.82.
