Asian Goal line Betting

In a previous article we wrote about Asian Handicap betting lines, today we want to talk about Asian Goal Line betting. Line Betting is a pretty simple concept, bookmakers will calculate a number of goals which they think the final score will either beat or not. They’re becoming more popular in football betting but have been a mainstay in high scoring sports like American Football and basketball for many years.

Goal lines are similar to handicap lines and the most common one is Over/Under 2.5 goals. We know that for an Over 2.5 goals bet to win we need at least three goals to be scored in a match. If we bet on Under 2.5 goals this bet will win if 0, 1 or 2 goals are scored.

Over/Under Goal Line Betting

Like Asian Handicap lines, we can regularly see lines with what can be confusing numbers if you’re new to this area of betting. We’re talking about the likes of Over 3 goals, Over 3.25 and Over 3.75 goals, or Over/Under 2.25 etc.

Let’s say Real Madrid play Barcelona soon and the line is set at Over 3 goals at 1.95, you reckon it’ll end 2-2 or 2-3 so you bet on Over 3 goals. If 3 goals are scored your bet is void and refunded, if four goals or more are scored you win. If 2 goals or less are scored your bet loses.

However, if the line is 3.25 goals what do we need? We need 4 goals for this bet to win. If three goals are scored in a match where the line is 3.25 then we half lose our bet and the other half is returned. So if we bet £10 then we lose five and five is returned. Anything under three goals and the bet loses.

If the goal line is 3.75 what do we need? For this bet to fully win, we need 5 goals. If four goals are scored we will half win the bet. So if we bet £10 then £5 is returned and the other £5 is returned with the winning odds calculated on top of it. If 3 goals or less are scored our bet loses.

Let’s recall the France vs Moldova match from the article on Asian Handicap line. The Goal Line for that match was 4.75, quite a high goal line. If we had bet on Over 4.75 in that match, what results did we need? For this to win we’d need 6 goals to fully win, 5 would be a half win and anything less would be a loss.

Like with the Asian Handicap markets, we’ve made a grid for you to bookmark so you can quickly see how many goals you need to see scored, or not, in a match for your Over/Under Goal Line bet to win.
