Nuno Espirito Santo’s 11th placed Wolves welcome Ralph Hasenhuttl’s 17th placed Southampton to Molineaux on Saturday afternoon for their Premier League matchday nine meeting. Wolves are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions, beating current Premier League champions Manchester City in their last match, while Southampton have lost three Premier League matches in a row conceding nine goals over those three matches. Can they restore some pride against Wolves here?

Wolves vs Southampton Betting Tips and Predictions: Wolves

Wolves are certainly on a good run of form, but their home form leaves a lot to be desired; they’ve only chalked up five points from a possible 12 at home, drawing with Man United and Burnley, before losing to Chelsea and finally getting their first home win of the season against Watford in their last home match.

Of course they made headlines around the world in their last Premier League match when they beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium 0-2 prior to the international break. The score doesn’t really tell the full story though, City had 18 attempts on goal, but only got two of them on target, they had a rare off day and Wolves weathered the storm and got two goals thanks to two blistering counter attacks finished by Adama Traore.

Against Southampton they’ll fancy their chances of getting the three points on offer and with no Europa League matches for a few weeks they can fully concentrate on getting back up the Premier League table.

In team news Morgan Gibbs-White and Romain Saiss are a doubt for this match but could make it back on time.

Wolves vs Southampton Betting Tips and Predictions: Southampton

Southampton are again at the wrong end of the Premier League table, they’re currently 4.5 to be relegated. They certainly have a squad that should be able for the demands of the Premier League but you just don’t know in football, a run of bad results and the shoulders drop and they might find it difficult to drag themselves up the table.

The Saints have now gone three matches without a win, scoring just three matches and conceding nine. Of the two matches they have won this season, one was against newly promoted Sheffield United, while the other was an away win at Brighton. Their strikers are not playing well, of their five attackers only Danny Ings has gotten on the scoresheet, contributing three goals in his eight appearances, if they don’t start getting goals from other players very soon they’re going to find themselves in trouble.

The good news is that Southampton have no new injuries to report so Hasenhuttl will have a full squad to pick from. They play Leicester, Man City and Arsenal over the coming week, they’re going to need to get something out of this match otherwise a long losing run could be on the cards.
