First placed Liverpool welcome former manager Brendan Roger’s Leicester City to Anfield on Saturday afternoon for their Premier League matchday eight fixture. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds almost made a dog’s dinner of their Champions League tie with Red Bull Salzburg, winning 4-3, after losing a 3-0 halftime lead. Leicester meanwhile have been basking in the glow of their impressive 5-0 demolition of Newcastle last weekend with every punter and his dog now tipping the Foxes for this season’s Top 4. Can Leicester dent Liverpool’s 100% Premier League record? Read on to find out what we’re predicting.

Liverpool vs Leicester Betting Tips and Predictions: Liverpool

Liverpool’s 3-0 halftime lead didn’t tell the full story, goalkeeper Adrain pulled off a few good saves but after the break a Red Bull Salzburg stampeded forward, netting three goals in 11 minutes. Klopp’s team were on the ropes, but they dug deep and came back to win 4-3 thanks to a 69th minute Mo Salah goal.

No doubt this will give them yet another boost in confidence. For many seasons Liverpool were one of those teams who wilted under pressure but over the last two seasons Klopp has made them more resolute and more intelligent when it comes to grinding out results.

How much will this game have taken out of the team though? That’s a good question and really we won’t know until kickoff. On Thursday they’ll do some recovery training, then training and prematch drills on Friday and Saturday a teamtalk about tactics, Leicester have had all week to prepare.

In team news there are rumours that goalkeeper Alisson may return, but we doubt he’ll be rushed back. Joel Matip missed the Salzburg match and may not return for this. As usual, check out team news closer to kick off.

Liverpool vs Leicester Betting Tips and Predictions: Leicester

How good were Leicester last weekend? Or should that be, how bad were Newcastle? Leicester are winning much praise from the press and punters alike for how their season has started and there’s no denying they’ve had great results, you can feel there’s a ‘but’ coming. But, you were correct, who have they beaten?

A terrible Newcastle, a bereft Spurs, both at home. Bournemouth at home, everyone beats Bournemouth at home, and Sheffield United away. They drew with Wolves, Chelsea and lost to Man United. Leicester’s run has been good, but that’s because they’ve not played anyone decent. OK, Chelsea are getting better but they were muck in early August and Manchester United are as bad, if not worse, than there were under David Moyes or Louis van Gaal.

What’s undeniable though is that Leicester are playing some great football. Jamie Vardy looks back to his best and with the support of both James Maddison and Ayoze Perez behind him he has the freedom again that means he can get behind defences and torment goalkeepers to his heart’s desire.

In teams news Maddison is a doubt but will be assessed in the coming days as he returns from an ankle injury. Other than that, Rodgers has a full squad to pick from.
