Brendan Rodger’s third-placed Leicester City welcome Steve Bruce’s 17th-placed Newcastle to the King Power Stadium on Sunday night for their Premier League matchday seven fixture. The Foxes are flying high in the table with 11 points from a possible 18 and are on a great Premier League run of just three defeats in their previous 15 league matches. Toon though have only one Premier League win so far this season and are now favourites for relegation at 2.22, having opened at 8.0.

Leicester vs Newcastle Betting Tips and Predictions: Leicester

Leicester are certainly doing well, but a closer look at their results shows that their opposition hasn’t exactly been of the highest quality. Of their three victories this season they were against newly promoted Sheffield United, they beat Bournemouth at home comfortably and saw off a Spurs in turmoil last weekend. They drew away to Chelsea and Wolves and lost to Manchester United at Old Trafford. So you can see that coming up against ‘better’ opposition they’re not having things their own way. However, it’s safe to say that this season Newcastle can’t really be classed as ‘better opposition’.

We wrote before about the Leicester players struggling with the formation Rodgers had put upon them but as the weeks go by they’re looking more and more comfortable. Jamie Vardy is coming back into games more having looked a little bit isolated in the first few matches. He now has three goals in his six games. James Maddison has looked good too, much of Leicester’s play goes through him and he finally got the monkey off his back and scored the winning goal last weekend against Spurs.

However, the young midfielder suffered an injury during the week and will likely miss this match. There are no other major injuries to report.

Leicester vs Newcastle Betting Tips and Predictions: Newcastle

You’ve got to feel sorry for Newcastle United fans. You go from having a manager who has won both the Champions League and the Europa League/UEFA Cup as well as Spain’s La Liga to Steve Bruce. Unless you’re a Sunderland fan though, then it’s probably hilarious for you.

Anyway, Newcastle’s season has been pretty dire. One win in all competitions so far this season; that surprise away win to Spurs a month ago. Since then they’ve lost to both Leicester in the League Cup, Arsenal at home and away to both Norwich and Liverpool. They’ve drawn with a very poor Watford 1-1 at home and had a dour 0-0 at home to Brighton last weekend.

There’s some good news though for Toon, Allan Saint-Maximin, Sean Longstaff, Florian Lejeune and DeAndre Yedlin were all spotted in training this week. Matt Ritchie didn’t train but could feature and Andy Carroll should be on the bench too.

Leicester vs Newcastle Betting Tips and Predictions: Tips and Predictions

The Asian Handicap line opened at 1. It has moved in favour of the home side having opened at 2.11, it has fallen to 1.98. The goal line opened at 2.25 and hasn’t moved.

The Bet Dynamo software is telling us though that a first half goal is likely so that’s something to bear in mind inplay. Leicester should win this match and it’s hard to argue with that handicap, get on it before it falls any further. Leicester AH -1 is 1.98.
