Frank Lampard’s Chelsea welcome Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon for their Premier League matchday six meeting. The Blues lost midweek to Valencia in the Champions League and had been unbeaten in their four previous matches before that. Liverpool meanwhile are five points clear at the top of the table but also lost midweek to Napoli in the Champions League, both teams will be chomping at the bit to get back to winning ways.

Chelsea vs Liverpool Betting Tips and Predictions: Chelsea

Chelsea have had a bit of a shaky start to the season, that 4-0 hammering away to Manchester United on the opening day, followed by a drab 1-1 draw at home with Leicester City. They won away at Norwich in a great 2-3 match but then threw away a 2-0 lead at home to Sheffield United. Against Wolves it looked as if the team really clicked and they stormed into a 4-0 lead, with the match ending 2-5. Against Valencia Lampard’s young team showed their inexperience but had it not been for a missed Ross Barkley penalty they should have at least salvaged a point.

Lampard’s trust in youth is only good for Chelsea though, the fans want academy players in the team and it almost gives Lampard a free pass to experiment with his players. That being said, he still has some superstars available to him. Against Wolves we saw how good they can be when it all goes to plan but against Sheffield United in particular we saw that the inexperience in the team can lead to them capitulating.

In the latest injury news Mason Mount picked up an injury against Valencia but he could be back in time for the match as it wasn’t as bad as first feared, we’ll know sooner to kickoff if he’ll feature. N’golo Kante is back in training as is Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Rudiger, although the latter two will probably need a few Under 23 matches under their belts before getting back in to first team reckoning. Kante could return on Sunday, so keep an eye out for news regarding Lampard’s press conference in the coming days.

Chelsea vs Liverpool Betting Tips and Predictions: Liverpool

Losing to Napoli midweek was Liverpool’s first competitive loss since losing 3-0 to Barcelona at the Nou Camp last May. The match had been even until the second half when it looked like Liverpool were the dominant team and pushing for a goal. It was somewhat against the run of play when Napoli scored and then got a second. It won’t have dented confidence though and Liverpool have only lost once at Stamford Bridge since 2014.

Liverpool’s Premier League record is outstanding, they’ve won their last 14 matches and are unbeaten in their last 22 matches. The last time they lost was in a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City last January. The Reds didn’t pick up any injuries in Italy although Klopp probably won’t go with such a defensive set up in midfield and will likely rotate James Milner out for a more attack-minded player.

Chelsea vs Liverpool Betting Tips and Predictions: Tips and Predictions

The Asian Handicap line opened at 0.5 and has moved in Chelsea’s favour from 1.95 to 1.92, the goal line opened at 2.75 and has moved to 3 with the market indicating we might see plenty of goals here.

Both Teams to Score looks likely, but at 1.55 it’s a bad price for us, a fair price would be around 1.60. You have to have nerves of steel to bet against Unders in a Liverpool match, and while history might be against us both teams are in great goalscoring form so we’re going with Over 3 goals at 1.98.
