Marco Silva’s Everton welcome Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United to Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon for their Premier League matchday six fixture. The Toffees have been a bit wasteful so far this season while the Blades have impressed with their attacking football, albeit they’ve only won one match so far, can Everton use their home advantage to take the three points?

Everton vs Sheffield United Betting Tips and Predictions: Everton

Expectations are always high around Goodison at the beginning of the season, by mid September, however, they’re usually back around where they should be. With the signings of Moise Kean from Juventus and Alex Iwobi from Arsenal the Everton faithful thought that finally a frequently scoring group of players had been brought together by Silva. It doesn’t appear to be the case though, they’ve only scored five goals so far this season and have conceded seven.

Defencely, Everton have conceded those seven goals and while that looks bad on paper it’s pretty much bang average for their place in the table. Indeed, it’s one of the lower numbers of the current mid-table teams, Everton’s problem isn’t at the back, they have very good defenders, they’re just not scoring enough. Brazilian Richarlison has two goals in five Premier League matches, new signing Kean has 0/5, Theo Walcott has 0/3, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has 1/5 while Cenk Tosun hasn’t even played this season even though he scored two for Turkey in their last Euro 2020 qualification match against Moldova. Why Silva continues with the likes of Lewin and Kean when they aren’t scoring boggles the mind.

In injury news, Andre Gomes is a doubt at the time of writing but over the next day or two manager Silva will announce how fit he is in his press conference.

Everton vs Sheffield United Betting Tips and Predictions: Sheffield United

Current favourites for relegation Sheffield United have won much praise from press, pundits and punter alike for their positivity in their matches so far, winning one (Crystal Palace at home) and drawing two (away to Bournemouth and Chelsea) and losing two (Leicester and Southampton at home). As we know though, praise doesn’t win points and they’re going to have to become far better at home if they have any chance of staying up this season.

Win your home matches and draw the away ones, that’s the long held recipe in English football for comfortable survival and so far the Blades are sticking to the second part of it so they’ll be confident again of sharing the points here at Goodison. Clawing back to a 2-2 draw away to Chelsea gave the impression of a team not willing to go down without a fight but at home to Southampton in the following fixture after going down 0-1 in the 66th minute they only registered one shot on goal for the rest of the match. Hardly inspiring.

In injury news there are no new injuries to report, however striker Billy Sharp who was so important in last season’s promotion drive with 23 goals in his 40 appearances, he has one in three in the Premier League, is suspended thanks to the red card he received against Southampton.

Everton vs Sheffield United Betting Tips and Predictions: Tips and Predictions

The Asian Handicap line opened at 0.75 and has moved a bit against the home side, having opened at 1.82 it has drifted to 1.90, while for Sheffield United it has gone from 2.06 to 2.0. The goal line opened at 2.25 and has moved to 2.5.

Everton need to get a win here, Marco Silva is currently joint favourite along with Crystal Palace’s Roy Hodgson at 7.0, but the Blades have shown they’re well able to dig deep and get a point away from home, a Draw would be a fair result and is available at 3.85. Sheffield United +0.75 at 2.0 looks like a good shout too.
