Roulette Betting Strategies

Roulette is a game of complete chance, any number at any spin has the same chance of coming out as the next number. And as such there is no skill to picking the numbers at random. However, there are clever ways for you to cover more numbers more of the time, which when combined with a clever staking strategy, can help you produce a profit.

Here are two techniques that are really easy to carry out and do not require a huge knowledge of gambling, or even roulette.

The 3/2 Betting Technique

This system focuses on the idea that you can cover the majority of the table without having too much risk.

The 3/2 System works in two ways, the first way is to bet 2 units on the second column numbers, and 3 units on red. The second way is to bet 2 units on the third column of numbers as well as three units on black.

Each way is as good as each other and no matter what way you choose to go you will bet at a 3/2 ratio on both colour and column. Both ways allow gamblers to cover the majority of the numbers on the table. In fact, this method allows for approximately 70% of the numbers to be covered with just two bets.

Using Example 1, here’s how the various outcomes stack up:

  • If the ball lands on a red then you get back 6 units giving you a slight profit on your 5 unit stake

  • If the ball lands on a red within the second column then you get back 12 units, which is a profit of 7 units on your initial 5 unit stake.

  • If the ball lands on a black within the second column then you get back 6 units, a slight profit against the original 5 unit stake.

  • The only way a bet can lose is if the ball lands on a black within the first, or third column, you would then win nothing and lose your initial 5 unit stake.

The 2 to 1 Columns Plus Red Strategy

The 2 to 1 Columns Plus Red System is a lot like the 3/2 Strategy explained above. However, it works on placing 1 unit on each of the first two columns and then 1 unit on Red.

There are 8 reds in the third column, vs only 4 blacks, so this strategy allows the gambler to cover as much of the board as possible, whilst still being able to make a profit if the bet comes in.

The profit is made when the ball lands on a red number and within the first two columns.

Here is how the various outcomes stack up:

  • If the ball lands on a red within the first two columns then the bet returns 5 units, a profit of 2 units.

  • If the ball lands within the first two columns but on a black number, then the exact stake is returned (3 units), resulting in breaking even.

  • If the ball lands on a red but in the third column, then 2 thirds of the initial stake is returned (2 units), resulting in a slight loss.

  • The only time you get nothing back is when the ball lands on a black number on the third column. This is where you would lose all 3 of your units.
